Quiet Space
Alternative Pride Festival, MUD CIC.
The Quiet Space for Alternative Pride Festival was designed as a temporary installation at Platt Fields Market Garden in Manchester.
Drawing on research into Quiet Space design and neurodivergent preferences, the installation explored how fabric, colour, and connection to nature can support moments of calm, reflection, and sensory respite. Inspired by the surrounding market garden, a series of fabric banners responded to the site's colours, textures, and seasonal growth, creating a gentle and welcoming environment within the festival setting.
Situated within a community green space, the Quiet Space invited visitors to pause, rest, and reconnect with nature. The project marked the first iteration of my Quiet Space practice, establishing an approach that links sensory-friendly environments with local landscapes and community spaces.
